NEW YORK -- There are thousands of hotel beds in New York, and some of them have become so popular the hotels will actually sell them to you or tell you how you can buy them. We checked out some of the comfiest:

Luxurious Mattresses

For travelers, one of the most important hotel amenities is a comfortable bed.

NewsChannel 4 checked out the beds at three top New York hotels: the Four Seasons on 57th Street, the Rhiga Royal on 54th Street, and the Westin on 43rd Street, which touts its beds as heavenly with 10 layers of fabric from covers to bottom sheet.

Westin says the foundation, box spring and mattress are made exclusively for the hotel by Simmons.

The Four Seasons says its Posturlux 4000, is custom-made for the hotel by Sealy.

The Rhiga Royal features a Nautilus Sleep System in some of its suites. These feature individual control units for each side of the bed, and guests can adjust the firmness on either side of the bed with separate air chambers.

And believe it or not, it is possible to enjoy the comfort of these hotel beds right in your own home. The hotels say you can order a brand new bed through them. A king-size bed at the Westin runs about $1,300; at the Four Seasons, about $2,000, and for a Nautilus Sleep System, about $3,000.

The Four Seasons and the Westin will also sell you pillows. The Four Seasons also sells sleep-inducing CDs.

On the other hand, if you're trying to find hotel comfort at a mattress store, you need to look at the plush, higher-end mattresses. The International Sleep Products Association advises taking a power nap on them in the showroom.
