NEW YORK -- Police were still investigating two hit-and-run accidents on Sunday – one in Queens and one in the Bronx. The victims of both accidents have died.The accidents happened within a 24-hour period of each other on Friday and Saturday.In Flushing, Queens, an unidentified Asian male in his 50s was struck at 12:35 a.m. Saturday by a light-colored car that fled west on Roosevelt Ave., according to NewsChannel 4.
The man, who was not carrying identification at the time, was taken to New York Hospital Queens, where he died about 45 minutes later.The hit-and-run took place at Union Street and 39th Avenue, police said.In an unrelated hit-and-run in the Bronx, a man peddling newspapers on Gun Hill Road near an entrance to the Bronx River Parkway was struck and killed by a driver who remained at large Saturday, police told NewsChannel 4.Abdul Choudhury, 67, of the Bronx, died Friday at Montefiore Hospital following the 5:24 a.m. accident on East Gun Hill Road, police said. Police had no description of the vehicle responsible for the fatal accident.Choudhury, an immigrant from Bangladesh, was standing in the street and selling papers to cars stopped at a red light when he was struck by the vehicle.Authorities asked anyone with information about the fatal accident to contact CrimeStoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
