An 82-year-old Pembroke, Mass., woman was hospitalized after snatching her dog out of the grips of a pit bull mix last Thursday.

Kathleen Rehs needed sutures in her right shin and right forearm and a skin graft after the attack, according to the Patriot Ledger Web site.

Rehs' 15-pound bichon frise wandered out of his fenced in yard Thursday afternoon and walked over to a neighbor's yard, where the pit bull, German shepherd and Maine coonhound mix was chained to a tree.

The dog was shaking Buddy by its neck when Rehs jumped in to help her pet. She eventually freed her dog and called for help.

Buddy later had surgery and was returned Sunday to his home. Rehs was recovering from her injuries Monday.
