One Year Later: Family, Friends Reflect On Deadly Home Invasion

PLAINVILLE, Conn. -- A home invasion in Cheshire that left a mother and two daughters dead one year ago today has had a lasting effect on people across Connecticut, and Wednesday, people are pausing to reflect and remember.More than 100 members of the Plainville community attended events Wednesday in support of Dr. William Petit.Petit, the sole survivor of the fatal home invasion, grew up in and practiced medicine in Plainville.
Wednesday morning, he stood in the back of Our Lady of Mercy Church, embracing friends and family.Wednesday's service was meant to honor Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters, Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11, the victims of a home invasion.Dr. Petit's office is a block away from the church, where there is a new pink bow and fresh pink roses with a note addressed to the Petit family promising to never forget Jennifer, Hayley or Michaela.From noon to 7 p.m., there will also be a gathering at Cheshire United Methodist Church on Academy Road in Cheshire.
