N.J. Residents Without Water After Water Main Break

POSTED: 2:15 pm EDT July 16, 2008
UPDATED: 2:34 pm EDT July 16, 2008

A water main break Wednesday morning has placed hundreds of Perth Amboy homes and businesses without water, says a published report.

The 20-inch break was discovered between 7 and 8 a.m. on Outer State Street and workers isolated the broken main around 10 a.m., spokeswoman Bernadette Sohler told The Star-Ledger.

Sohler is the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for the Middlesex Water Company, which runs the city’s water system.

It is not known when water service would be restored, Sohler told to the newspaper.

The break affected people on Outer State and Thomas Streets, and Leon, Wagner, Summit, and Bruck avenues, among others, Sohler said.
