Police are searching for a man who brook into a Glen Rock, N.J., home early Sunday and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in her bedroom.

The intruder entered the house through an unlocked rear sliding glass door of the home around 4:30 a.m. and found his way to the teen’s second-floor bedroom, said police Capt. Fred Stahman.

The girl awoke when the man sexually assaulted her reported police. The victim told police that the intruder said, “Don’t scream. You don’t want your family to die.” When she asked what he wanted, he allegedly said, “I want you,” according to Stahman.

The man put a sock in her mouth and an altercation ensued. She bit his thumb and grabbed his hair and face before he punched her several times in the head, said Stahman.

The perpetrator has been described as a 5-foot-10-inch man wearing a white “Quicksilver” T-shirt. The victim said he had liquor on his breath.

This is an unusual crime in Glen Rock and there are no other similar instances of intrusion, said police.

Police Chief Steven Cherry is confident that the department will find the assailant with the physical evidence available.
