John Casper, a 49-year-old Bergenfield Police officer is in stable condition after being shot Wednesday night in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

A colleague of Casper's told WNBC that the 19-year veteran of the Bergenfield police had been walking with three friends when they saw a robbery in progress.

A second would-be robber approached the group, took out a gun and shot Casper point blank range in the chest.
