POSTED: 2:45 pm EDT April 19, 2008
UPDATED: 10:21 am EDT April 20, 2008

A woman is dead after the car she was driving in collided with a New York City fire engine on its way to a burning home in Queens.

All six firefighters on the truck were hospitalized after the accident in the Jamaica section of Queens.

The truck from Engine Company 275 was responding to a fire at a three-story private home when it collided with a car driven by 27-year-old Angela Johnson near 111th Avenue and 155th Street.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told WNBC he saw the car start to pull out into the intersection when he heard the fire engine coming. The crash happened a short time after.

The Fire Department says two of the firefighters have more serious injuries; all are hospitalized at Long Island Jewish Hospital. The accident is under investigation.
