UPDATED: 11:29 am EDT April 19, 2008

Police charged a 61-year-old Connecticut man with sexually abusing three children at two different public bathrooms in Brooklyn.

Police identified the suspect as Michael Martin of Stamford, Conn.

Martin followed an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl into a public restroom Thursday at Gravesend Park and sexually assaulted both of them, police said. When the children began crying, he fled the scene.

The other attack happened about two hours later inside a bathroom at Diglio Playground, also in Brooklyn, police said.

Martin followed an 8-year-old girl into the public bathroom and sexually assaulted her. When the victim began crying, Martin fled on foot, police said.

Police charged Martin with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child, sexual abuse and criminal sex act.

The three children are in stable condition at a local hospital.
