Family, Military, Police Search For Long Island Native

Military and police officials are trying to figure out if a Marine couple disappeared to avoid deployment or if something happened to them.

The newlyweds, Marine Lance Cpl. Margaret McMahon of Sag Harbor and Marine Pvt. Kevyn Reid of North Carolina were last seen at Camp Pendleton Monday. A couple of days later, her family said money was withdrawn from her account via an ATM in Hazelwood, Mo .

Police searched the couple’s home and said they had found all personal belongings, including hygiene products, missing.

McMahon’s family fear something bad has happened to her.

They say she was fighting with her husband and now cannot reach either of them.

McMahon’s family believes the man they have never met, her husband of two months, is responsible for her disappearance.

They said they have tied to reach Reid via his MySpace page but had no luck.

McMahon’s sisters described Reid as a jealous husband who might have had a fight with her Sunday night.

Both McMahon and her husband were scheduled for deployment to Iraq later this year, but her family said the Sag Harbor native would never run out on her duties, or would have gone this long without contacting any of her 10 brothers and sisters.

For now, McMahon and her husband are listed by the Marine Corps as being unofficially absent from duty.
