NEW YORK -- Police said the gunman who attacked a music executive outside a Chase bank in Midtown on Friday planned out the attack and must have known the victim was withdrawing a large amount of cash.Seton Ijams, 50, was dragged down a sidewalk and beaten with a pistol after taking almost $150,000 cash out of the bank at 56th Street near Sixth Avenue, police said.During the struggle, the gun went off, firing an errant shot that did not hit anyone, police said.
Ijams, witnesses told WNBC, was left on the sidewalk, bloodied and robbed. On Sunday, police released a sketch of the gunman in hopes of coming up with suspects.Investigators said the robber might have been tipped off about Ijams' large withdrawal by someone close to the victim or someone from his company. No one had been arrested Saturday. But police said they are studying surveillance camera footage from just a few feet away from the attack.Ijams was released from the hospital Saturday and had little to say to reporters. He covered his face with a blue hood. There was no word on whether the large cash withdrawal was related to his work.Zafer Incekara, a limousine driver from Lyndhurst, N.J., said the gunman fired a shot at his victim before he fled."I saw the guy running out to Sixth Avenue" with the black bag after leaving the man in the street, said witness Amado Delacruz, 34, of Bayonne, N.J."You don't expect this. Not on 56th Street. Especially in front of Starbucks," Delacruz said.Police were searching for a robber they described as a man between 25 and 30 years old who was wearing a black parka, black pants is about 5 feet 9 inches tall.Investigators said they expect to release a sketch or that video surveillance soon.Classic Beauties: How They Aged Celebrities Who Died Young Recent Notable Deaths Celebrities: Then And Now Celebs Who've Suffered Illnesses Sexiest Newscasters Listed By Maxim Celebrity Phobias -- What Freaks Stars Out?
