King Tut's mummy was removed from its sarcophagus on Sunday and moved to a humidity-controlled display case.

A sheet was briefly pulled back to reveal the badly deteriorated body of the boy king. His face and legs remain the only well-preserved parts of the body.

Archaeologists said the mummy would have been completely deteriorated in just a few decades if it hadn't been moved to a climate-controlled environment.

King Tut died at the age of 19 nearly 3,300 years ago. His body was mummified and buried.

His mummy was discovered in 1922 by a British archaeologist.

Besides a handful of archaeologists, no one has ever seen the mummified face of King Tut.

Tourists to Tut's tomb will now be able to see the pharaoh.
