ST. LOUIS -- Thumbelina, the world's smallest horse, is just 17.5 inches tall.
However, the tiny 5-year-old, which lives at Goose Creek Farms in the St. Louis area, makes up for her small size with her attitude."She thinks she's the boss of the whole pasture," said her owner, Paul Goessling. Now that she has been recognized by Guinness World Records, Thumbelina is going to hit the road to make a difference for children."She can do a lot of good while she's around and raise a lot of money, and hopefully a lot of attention for some good children's causes," said Thumbelina's caregiver, Michael Goessling. While standing next to an average-sized cocker Spaniel, Thumbelina seems to be about the same size.Michael Goessling said she tends to "boss the bigger horses around, which is always fun to watch."Apparently, it doesn't matter how big those horses are."The world's biggest horse, his name is Radar, and he lives in Texas," Paul Goessling said. "He was here with Thumbelina. Thumbelina tried to run him out of pasture."Radar is 40 times bigger than Thumbelina, standing at more than 6 feet, 7 inches tall. "He paid absolutely no attention to her," Paul Goessling said. "I don't think he even thought she was a horse."
