NEW YORK -- A man who tried to order a three-pizza special for $14.99 from Domino's was denied the deal from an employee who couldn't think outside the box."The guy stopped me right away and said, 'I'm sorry, we don't have any medium boxes," said customer August Elia. "And I shook my head for a minute, like I really didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. I said, 'Can we get the three medium pizzas?' and he said, 'We don't have any medium boxes.'"Elia proposed an obvious solution: put the pizzas in large-sized boxes. That didn't fly with the Domino's employee, either.
"He said, 'I can't do that; the pizzas will move around,'" Elia said. "And I'm saying, 'Oh, come on. I promise to be careful with them.' I just thought it was absolutely ridiculous. You lost a sale because you didn't want to put a medium pizza in a large box."When NewsChannel 4 contacted Domino's corporate, they sent Elia several free pizza coupons. They also promised to retrain the employee in question.
