Joseph Valiquette
Joseph Valiquette, an Investigative Producer, joined WNBC in 2005 following a thirty-year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). As a member of NewsChannel 4's Investigative Unit, he oversees coverage of federal cases and special investigations pertaining to terrorism, organized crime, white collar crime and public corruption, among others.Valiquette began his FBI career as a Special Agent in 1975. Early in his career he conducted investigations in the New York City metropolitan area of kidnappings, extortions and major interstate thefts. In 1980, he was assigned to be one of the original members of the New York FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force (JTTF), the first of its kind in the United States. During his tenure on the JTTF, he conducted investigations of the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nationale (FALN), the Jewish Defense League (JDL) and the 1981 Brinks Armored Car Robbery in Nyack, New York.Valiquette was later placed in charge of media relations for the New York office of the FBI, the largest of the FBI's fifty-six field divisions. In that role, he coordinated the FBI's media relations program during numerous high profile investigations including the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the 1996 TWA 800 tragedy and the events of September 11, 2001. In 1996, he was promoted to the position of Supervisory Special Agent.
A native of Boston, Valiquette received his BA degree from Boston College and his Juris Doctor degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law.
