Kelsey Grammer suffered a mild heart attack at his home in Hawaii over the weekend, the actor's representative said Monday.

Stan Rosenfield said that Grammer was "resting comfortably" and is expected to be released from the hospital early this week.

Grammer and his wife, Camille, live in Kona on the Big Island.

"Grammer experienced symptoms Saturday morning after paddle boarding with his wife Camille at their Hawaiian home," according to a statement from Rosenfield. "Grammer was immediately taken to an area hospital where it was determined that he had a mild heart attack."

The spokesman said that he is unaware of any history of heart trouble for Grammer.

Grammer, 53, starred on the sitcoms "Cheers" and "Frasier." His most recent sitcom, "Back to You," co-starring Patricia Heaton, was canceled after one season.

The actor also starred as the mutant Beast in the 2006 superhero movie "X-Men: the Last Stand."
